3. Global Health Security Index 2019

  • Global Health Security Index 2019 is compiled under a project of Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) and by Johns Hopkins University Center for Health Security (CHS), with research by Economist Intelligence Unit.
  • India is ranked 57th out of 195 countries with a score of 46.5 out of 100.
  • Global Health Security Index 2019 is a comprehensive assessment of epidemic and pandemic threats globally.

1. No charges on Digital Payments made to large business

  • Acc. to Finance Ministry, Merchant Discount Rate on Digital Payments will not be levied to large business establishments with an annual turnover of more than Rs 50 crore from 1 Nov.
  • The merchant discount rate is the rate charged to a merchant for payment processing services on debit and credit card transactions. The merchant must set up this service and agree to the rate prior to accepting debit and credit cards as payment.

2. Melbourne Mercer Global Pension Index 2019

  • The 11th edition of Mercer Global Pension Index 2019 was released by HR Consulting firm Mercer.
  • India is ranked 32nd on the list of 37 countries.
  • This index measures the pension and retirement benefits given to citizens of different income groups.

4. ‘Maharatna’ status to HPCL and PGCIL

  • Government of India has granted ‘Maharatna’ status to Hindustan Petroleum and Power Grid Corp.
  • PSUs are categorised in three forms, Maharatna, Navaratna, Miniratna.
  • The CPSEs fulfilling the following criteria are eligible to be considered for grant of Maharatna status. (ii) Listed on Indian stock exchange with minimum prescribed public shareholding under SEBI regulations. (iii) Average annual turnover of more than Rs. 25,000 crore, during the last 3 years.
