Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially launched and laid the foundation stones for significant railway and road infrastructure projects. 

  • These initiatives encompass railway modernization, road overpasses, and underpasses, with the primary goal of improving connectivity, safety, and efficiency. 
  • The focus is on enhancing station facilities through the implementation of modern infrastructure, ultimately enhancing the overall passenger experience. 
  • The extensive project involves the redevelopment of 553 railway stations across 27 states and union territories, with an estimated investment exceeding Rs 19,000 crore.

India has unveiled its largest solar-battery project in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh, commissioned by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).

State News

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for Sikkim’s first railway station in Rangpo, marking a historic moment for the state. 

  • The design of the Rangpo railway station reflects local culture, heritage, and architecture. 
  • As part of a larger initiative to revolutionize rail infrastructure nationwide, over 2,000 projects valued at approximately Rs 41,000 crore aim to foster connectivity and economic development.

The Adani Group has inaugurated South Asia’s largest Ammunition and Missiles Complex in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. 

  • The complex, owned by Adani Defence, is the first phase of the state’s defense corridor and is dedicated to the brave warriors of the Balakot strike. 
  • It is anticipated to generate around 4,000 jobs, with a significant multiplier effect benefiting MSMEs and the local ecosystem.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved a Financial Incentive Scheme for Armed Forces personnel excelling in the 19th Asian Games and 4th Asian Para Games held in Hangzhou, China, during September-October 2023.

NITI Aayog CEO B V R Subrahmanyam highlighted findings from the latest NSSO consumer expenditure survey, indicating a significant reduction in poverty levels to below 5% in India. 

  • The survey reflects growing prosperity in both rural and urban areas, with per capita monthly household expenditure more than doubling in 2022-23 compared to 2011-12. 
  • The gap between urban and rural consumption has also decreased from 84% in 2011-12 to 71% in 2022-23.

Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Founder and CEO of Paytm, has stepped down from his role as part-time non-executive chairman and board member of Paytm Payments Bank.
