1. Introduction of the World’s First Intranasal COVID-19 Vaccine: iNNCOVACC

  • Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya launched iNNCOVACC, the world’s first intranasal COVID-19 vaccine, in New Delhi.
  • The vaccine was developed by Bharat Biotech International Limited (BBIL) and the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance.
  • It will be authorized for use in a primary 2-dose regimen and as a heterologous booster dose, as stated by the ministry.

2. Inauguration of Phase 2 of India’s First Government-run Veterinary Ambulance Service

  • Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy unveiled Phase 2 by flagging off an additional 165 veterinary ambulance units from Tadepalli.
  • In May 2021, Chief Minister Jagan launched the first batch of ‘YSR Sanchara Pasu Aarogya Seva’ (Veterinary Ambulances) equipped with state-of-the-art technology, aiming to provide premium medical care for animals.
  • Each ambulance will feature a doctor, an assistant, and a driver-cum-aide, alongside facilities such as a small lab for various tests, a refrigerator for storing medications, and equipment for basic surgeries on animals.

3. Women’s Indian Premier League Auction Garners Rs 4,670 cr

  • The winning bids totaled Rs 4,670 crore (approximately $572.78 million), as disclosed by Jay Shah, a member of BCCI.
  • The triumphant teams for the inaugural season include Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Adani Group, and Capri Global.
  • The teams will represent different cities in India, such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Lucknow.
  • The highest bid was INR 1289 crore for the Ahmedabad team, succeeded by Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Lucknow.

4. Shamalbhai B. Patel Assumes Role as Chairman of Amul

  • Shamalbhai B. Patel, chairman of the Sabarkantha District Cooperative Milk Producers Union and Sabar Dairy, is now leading Amul. Valamjibhai Humbal is appointed vice chairman of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, the distributor of dairy products under the Amul brand.
  • Anand’s deputy collector managed the election and the subsequent declaration.

6. Passing of Renowned Mexican Comedian Polo Polo

  • Leopoldo Roberto Garcia Pelaez Benitez, a celebrated Mexican comedian, passed away.
  • Known as “Polo Polo”, he was often referred to as the “father” of stand-up comedy.
  • Born in 1944 in Leon, Guanajuato, he was notably recognized for his roles in movies like “Cronicas Chilangas” (2009) and “Con Ganas” (1990).
