  • Ahead of the Moscow-format gathering in Kazan, Russia, the Taliban has approached India for economic support and formal recognition. The significance of this move is magnified due to China’s growing relationship with the Taliban and the recent appointment of their envoy in Kabul. Represented by Suhail Shaheen, the Taliban expressed its intent to establish positive relations with India in hopes of economic help and global recognition. Although India had previously declined to acknowledge the Taliban administration due to human rights violations, it might consider sending representatives to the Kazan conference. However, there’s no official confirmation yet.

  • The 13th Indo-Pacific Armies Chiefs Conference, co-hosted by the Indian and US Army Pacific, took place at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi. This meeting witnessed participation from 30 Indo-Pacific nations and addressed collaborative security, planning, and regional challenges. The primary theme was military diplomacy’s role in crisis management. The event also displayed a variety of indigenous weapons created by Indian companies, showcasing India’s progress in defense technology.

  • The Afghani currency, the official currency of Afghanistan, exceeded expectations by leading in the third quarter of 2023. This remarkable success is credited to the influx of dollar-based humanitarian aid and the fiscal policies of the Taliban.   • India has confirmed its borrowing plan for the second half of the fiscal year ending in March 2024, estimating a total borrowing of Rs 15.43 lakh crore.
