1.Nitish Kumar wins floor test in Bihar assembly.

  • Bihar CM Nitish Kumar won floor test in Bihar assembly with 131 trust votes in his favour.
  • Bihar Assembly, consisting 243-MLAs needed Nitsih Kumar at least 122 MLAs in his favour to win floor test.

2. PM flags off “Shraddha Setu Express”.

  • On the second death anniversary of former president of India, APJ Abdul kalam, PM Modi flagged off “Shraddha Setu Express”.
  • The train will run between Ayodhya and Kalam’s hometown Rameswaram.

3. Indian Institutes of Management Bill, 2017 introduced in LS

  • Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar introduced Indian Institutes of Management Bill, 2017 which seeks to usher in functional autonomy in the IIMs by the government role.
  • The Indian Institutes of Management Bill, 2017, provides for giving statutory powers to these institutions in their running including appointment of directors, faculty members, and gives them powers to award degrees instead of post graduate diplomas.

4. National centre for seismology launches an App ‘India Quake’

  • Union Minister of Science and Technology, earth Sciences ad environment, Forest and Climate Change, Dr. Harshawardhan launched an app “India Quake” for earthquake parameter.
  • The app will make information dissemination faster with no restrictions on the number of recipients.

International News

1. Pak SC disqualifies Nawaj Sharif as Pakistan PM.

  • In its historic decision Pakistan Supreme Court disqualified Pakistan PM Nawaj Sharif as he found guilty incorruption in the Panama Papers case.
  • Today only he resigned from the post. He is also barred from holding any public office in the future.

2. Ballistic Missile fired towards Mecca Shot down by Saudi coalition.

  • A ballistic missile fired by Yemen’s Houthi rebels toward the Muslim holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia was shot down late on Thursday, said the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen.
  • Air defence forces downed the missile over the Wasaliyah area of Taif province, 69 km from Mecca, without causing any damage.
  • Mecca, situated in Saudi Arabia is the holy place of Islam community.

3. In a bitter blow to Trump, US senate rejects partial repeal of Obamacare.

  • U.S. Republicans failed spectacularly in their latest effort to dismantle their previous government’s health reform bill ‘Obamacare’.
  • Partial repeal of Obamacare was rejected with voting against it 51 and in favour 49.

4. India’s NSA urges BRICS nations to up fight against terrorism.

  • In his opening remark at seventh BRICS meeting of NSA(National Security Advisors) Ajit Doval urged BRICS nations to up fight against terrorism
  • The meeting between Mr. Doval and Mr. Yang, who are also both serving Special Representatives on the China-India boundary talks, comes amid modest expectations that a framework for a gradual de-escalation of the Doklam crisis may emerge.

Business News

1 .Samsung becomes world’s largest chip maker.

  • Beating Intel for first time in history, Samsung has becomes world’s largest maker of computer chip.
  • Samsung, South Korean Electronics giant earned revenue of USD 15.8bn during June quarter end while Intel reported USD 14.7776bn in chip revenue during same period.

2.Axis bank to buy FreeCharge from Snapdeal in all cash deal.

  • Axis Bank will acquire FreeCharge from Snapdeal in all cash deal of Rs.385 crore.
  • FreeCharge, much like Snapdeal, has been in a free fall since late last year as the company was unable to keep up with rivals like the cash rich Paytm.

3. Bombay Stock Exchange(BSE) inks pact with Egyptian exchange.

  • India’s leading bourse BSE joined hands with Egyptian Exchange(EGX) for cooperation in exchange of information across business areas.
  • Ashish Kumar Chouhan is the present MD and CEO of BSE.

1. H S Pranoy ranked 17th in latest BWF ranking.

  • With the help of his US Open title, Pranoy jumped by 6 places to be at 17th position.
  • In women’s category Rio Olympics silver medalist PV Sindhu remained at 5th position while Saina Nehwal dropped a spot to be at 16th position.

2. PV Sindhu appointed as Deputy Collector in Andhra Government.
