Reserve Bank of India Reports 12.6% Increase in Digital Payments by March 2024
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has reported a 12.6% growth in digital payments by the end of March 2024, according to its Digital Payments Index (RBI-DPI).
- The index, which tracks the adoption of online transactions, showed a 6% year-on-year increase as of March 31, 2024.
- The RBI-DPI reached a value of 5 by March 2024, up from 418.77 in September 2023 and 395.57 in March 2023.
Canara Bank to Open 250 New Branches to Boost CASA Deposits
- Canara Bank plans to expand its branch network by opening 250 new branches within the current financial year to enhance its Current Account and Savings Account (CASA) deposits.
- This follows the opening of 200 branches last year. The bank has seen a decline in CASA deposits, which fell from 33% in June 2022 to 30.98% in June 2023.
- To improve resource mobilization, Canara Bank is leveraging artificial intelligence for data analysis.
Five Entities Enter Test Phase in RBI’s Fifth Regulatory Sandbox Cohort
