  • Aarti Holla-Maini, renowned for her expertise in the satellite sector and of Indian heritage, has been appointed by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres as the head of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) in Vienna.
  • She succeeds Simonetta Di Pippo of Italy.

4. Leadership Transition at Hindustan Unilever: Rohit Jawa Steps in as MD and CEO

  • Rohit Jawa has taken over as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL), succeeding Sanjiv Mehta.
  • Mehta, who helmed HUL for a decade and served the company for over three decades, handed the baton to Jawa, who had been designated as Additional Director and CEO-in-waiting from April 1.

  • Standard Chartered Bank faced a ₹30 lakh fine for non-compliance with KYC norms.
  • Credit agencies, including Experian, TransUnion CIBIL, Equifax, and CRIF High Mark, were fined a total of ₹1 crore for inaccuracies in credit information. Additionally, RBI penalized seven cooperative banks, including UP Cooperative Bank, for various regulatory violations.

11. Passing of John Bannister Goodenough, Co-Inventor of Lithium-Ion Battery

  • Renowned American scientist John Bannister Goodenough, instrumental in the invention of the Lithium-ion battery and a co-recipient of the 2019 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, has passed away just shy of his 101st birthday.
