1. Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize

  • It is awarded in Science and Technology Sector by CSIR
  • It was constituted in 1958,It is India’s highest science award.
  • Biological Sciences category, Ganesh Nagaraju
  • Chemical science category, Rahul Banerjee
  • Mathematical Sciences category, Amit Kumar and Nitin Saxena
  • Physical Sciences category, Dr. Aditi Sen De(only female winner this year)

2. Lokpal search committee

  • This committee is headed by former Supreme Court judge Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai.
  • The Government has constituted an eight-member search committee to recommend officers of the anti-corruption ombudsman Lokpal.

3. Indian Navy with Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL)

  • Indian Navy has signed an agreement with Hindustan Shipyard Limited to construct Diving Support Vessels(Quantity 2).
  • The vessels will help Indian Navy in submarine support operations on eastern as well as western coast.

4. GST Network (GSTN) – A 100% government-owned company

  • A proposal has been passed by Govt. to convert ‘GST Network (GSTN)’ into a 100% government-owned company.
  • Now 50% stake will be owned by the Centre and the remaining by the states.

International News

1. ‘USAID-India End TB Alliance’

  • It is an alliance between India and USA to combat the menace of tuberculosis.
  • US Agency for International Development (USAID) head Mark Green with Health Minister J P Nadda from India launched this alliance in New York.

2. World Rabies Day

  • World Rabies Day was observed on 28 September.
  • It also marks the death anniversary of Louis Pasteur.
  • Louis Pasteur: Works and Discoveries. Pasteur’s scientific and medical accomplishments include cure for rabies, anthrax, chicken cholera, and silkworm diseases. He also contributed towards developing the first vaccines and provided logical grounds for fermentation and brewing.

3. 2018 Nobel Prize

  • 2018 Nobel Prizes will be announced on October 1 in Physics, Chemistry, Peace, and Economics.
  • No Nobel Prize in Literature will be awarded in 2018.

1. Brand Ambassador of ‘Tribes India’

  • TRIFED ( Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India) and ‘TRIBES INDIA’ has presented ‘Punch Tantra Diwali collection’.
  • Boxer Mary Kom is now as Brand Ambassador of ‘Tribes India’.

2. Incredible India Mobile App

  • K.J. Alphons has launched ‘Incredible India Mobile App’
  • Incredible India Tourist Facilitators Certification programme is also launched.
  • Union Minister for Tourism (IC) is K.J. Alphons.
  • India will host World Tourism Day celebrations for the UNWTO, in 2019
  • World Tourism Day 2018 (27 Sept) theme :- ‘Tourism & Digital Transformation’.

3. India’s first all-electric hyper car

  • Vazirani Shul:- It is designed and developed by Vazirani Automotive(Mumbai)
  • It has an electric motor on each wheel, which makes it an all-wheel-drive product with a single-ratio gearbox.

4. ‘Nielsen Smartphone 2018’ report

Sports News

1. Davis Cup in 2019 and 2020

  • Madrid will host Davis Cup finals in 2019 and 2020 which is in new format.
  • International Tennis Federation (ITF):- President – David Haggerty || Headquarters – London, United Kingdom

2. Deaf ICC World T20

  • India will host first deaf ICC World T20 from 23 Nov to 30 Nov in Gurugram.
  • Eight countries :- England, Australia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, South Africa and India.

3. 2018 Asia Cup

  • India has defeated Bangladesh to win Asia Cup for the seventh time.
  • Player of the series :- Shikhar Dhawan (India)
