  • The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) released their annual report, “Road Accidents in India 2022.”
  • Approximately 4,61,312 road accidents were recorded across Indian States and Union Territories in 2022, resulting in about 1,68,491 deaths and 4,43,366 injuries.
  • Tamil Nadu reported the highest number of accidents for the fifth consecutive year.

2. International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists

  • Observed on November 2nd each year by the United Nations, this day honors journalists who have lost their lives and emphasizes addressing impunity in crimes against journalists.

3. ‘Exercise KAZIND 2023’

Obituary:

8. Passing of Saleemul Huq

  • Saleemul Huq, a renowned Bangladeshi-British climate scientist, passed away at the age of 71 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
  • He was the director of the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) in Bangladesh and was awarded the OBE by Queen Elizabeth II in 2022.
