State News

  • The Maharashtra government has launched the “Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Yojana”, a financial scheme designed to support farmers. The scheme was approved during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Appointments News

  • Ajay Yadav has taken over as Managing Director at the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), a key agency of the central government responsible for auctioning renewable energy projects. SECI plays a vital role in executing renewable energy initiatives under the aegis of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
  • Ashwani Kumar has been appointed as the Managing Director of UCO Bank, succeeding Soma Sankara Prasad. Presently serving as the executive director of Indian Bank, Ashwani Kumar’s tenure in this new role will last three years, starting from June 1, 2023.

  • Razorpay, a leading fintech unicorn, has launched ‘Turbo UPI’, a streamlined one-step payment solution for the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) network. This feature, which was co-developed with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and Axis Bank, intends to simplify online payments for users.

  • The Indian government has revealed plans to offload up to a 3% stake in Coal India Ltd via an offer for sale (OFS). Both retail and non-retail investors can participate in the OFS, which will be open on June 1 and 2, allowing them to buy shares in this leading coal production company.

  • India’s GDP growth rate spiked to 6.1% during the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2022-23, pushing the nation’s economy to a total of $3.3 trillion. This surge in growth can be attributed to positive trends in agriculture, manufacturing, mining, and the construction industry, cumulatively resulting in an annual growth of 7.2%.

  • The Indian government has greenlit an ambitious scheme worth Rs 1 lakh crore, focusing on enhancing foodgrain storage capacity within the cooperative sector. Spanning the next five years, the initiative targets adding 700 lakh tonnes to the storage, taking the overall capacity to 2,150 lakh tonnes. This move positions it as the globe’s most extensive foodgrain storage program in the cooperative sector.
  • The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) has reached a significant landmark with 5 crore hospital admissions and an aggregate expenditure of 61,501 crore rupees. The scheme offers free treatment to its beneficiaries at a series of empaneled hospitals spread across the country.
