1. First State to enact law on contract farming

Tamil Nadu has become first State to set a policy framework and institutional mechanism on agricultural produce and livestock contract farming.
President Kovind has approved the Tamil Nadu Agricultural Produce and Livestock Contract Farming and Services (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2019 for the same.

2. ‘Drink from Tap Mission’

Odisha has drafted a Letter of Understanding with UNICEF on ‘Drink from Tap Mission’.
Aim: To provide piped quality drinking water supply to each household on a 24-hour basis.

3. International Film Festival of India

The 50th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will be held in Goa.
The International Film Festival of India, founded in 1952, is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia.
Actor Rajinikanth will be honoured with the Icon of Golden Jubilee award at 50th International Film Festival of India.
French actress Isabelle Huppert will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the festival.

2. Programmer Guido van Rossum retires

Creator of Computer Programming Language Python Guido van Rossum has retired from Dropbox.
Guido van Rossum is a Dutch programmer best known as the author of the Python programming language, for which he was the “Benevolent dictator for life” until he stepped down from the position in July 2018. He is currently a member of the Python Steering Council.

3. Sharjah International Book Fair

The 38th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair 2019 was inaugurated by Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, UAE.
