1. Champions of Empathy Award

  • DD News was awarded with ‘Champions of Empathy Award’ by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla for spreading awareness about hepatitis.

2. Narcotics Control Bureau

  • Rakesh Asthana has been given the additional charge of Narcotics Control Bureau.
  • The Narcotics Control Bureau is the nodal drug law enforcement and intelligence agency of India responsible for fighting drug trafficking and the abuse of illegal substances.

3. ‘AadiPerukku’ Festival

  • Aadipirappu commonly known as the Aadi monsoon festival and also written as Aadiperukku is a Tamil festival celebrated on the 18th day of the Tamil month of Adi.
  • The festival pays tribute to water’s life-sustaining properties.

4. Panel for Ayodhya Land Dispute Case

  • Mediation Panel for Ayodhya Land Dispute Case has submitted its report to Supreme Court.
  • The three member Mediation Panel comprises former apex court judge Kalifulla, spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and senior advocate Sriram Panchu.

  • Foreign Ministers from South East Asia attended the 52nd ASEAN summit in Bangkok.

2. Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty

  • Russia has declared the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty as ‘formally dead’ after USA announced its formal withdrawal from the pact.
  • The Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty was an arms control treaty between the United States and the Soviet Union. U.S. President Ronald Reagan and Soviet General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev signed the treaty on 8 December 1987.

3. Miss England 2019

  • India-born doctor Bhasha Mukherjee was crowned Miss England 2019.
  • England is a country that is part of the United Kingdom. It shares land borders with Wales to the west and Scotland to the north. The Irish Sea lies west of England and the Celtic Sea to the southwest.

2. NHB to provide Liquidity Infusion Facility to HFCs

  • National Housing Bank will provide additional Liquidity Infusion Facility of Rs 10000 crore to Housing Finance Companies.
  • National Housing Bank, a Government of India owned entity, was set up on 9 July 1988 under the National Housing Bank Act, 1987. NHB is an apex financial institution for housing.

3. Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2019

  • President Kovind has given his assent to ‘Companies(Amendment) Bill-2019’ which will amend Companies Act, 2013.
  • It is aimed to tighten Corporate Social Responsibility-CSR compliance, transfer certain responsibilities to National Company Law Tribunal and re-categorise certain offences as civil offences.
