  • India has added 10 more wetlands to sites protected by the Ramsar Convention.
  • The Ramsar Convention on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat is an international treaty for the conservation and sustainable use of wetlands.
  • It is also known as the Convention on Wetlands. It is named after the city of Ramsar in Iran, where the Convention was signed in 1971.

  • UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Goodwill Ambassador Pavan Sukhdev has won Tyler Prize 2020.
  • The Tyler Prize, regarded as the ‘Nobel Prize for the Environment’, for Environmental Achievement is an annual award for environmental science, environmental health, and energy.
  • Pavan Sukhdev is an Indian environmental economist whose field of studies include green economy and international finance.

1. New CEO of WeWork

  • Sandeep Mathrani has been appoints as the new CEO of WeWork.
  • WeWork is an American commercial real estate company that provides shared workspaces for technology startups and services for other enterprises. Founded in 2010, it is headquartered in New York City. As of 2018, WeWork managed over 4 million square metres. WeWork’s parent company is The We Company.

2. New CEO of IBM

  • Arvind Krishna has been elected Chief Executive Officer of American IT giant IBM replacing Virginia Rometty.
  • The International Business Machines Corporation is an American multinational information technology company headquartered in Armonk, New York, with operations in over 170 countries.

3. United Natons Resident Coordinator in Thailand

  • The United Nations has appointed Gita Sabharwal of India as the Resident Coordinator in Thailand.
  • The United Nations Resident Coordinator is the highest-ranking representative of the United Nations development system at the country level.
