1. The Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act
- Ministry of Home Affairs have extended The Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) for another six months in Nagaland.
- Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA), 1958 is an act of the Parliament of India that grant special powers to the Indian Armed Forces the power to maintain public order in “disturbed areas”.
- According to The Disturbed Areas (Special Courts) Act, 1976 once declared ‘disturbed’, the area has to maintain status quo for a minimum of 3 months.
2. Rahul Gandhi resigns
- Rahul Gandhi has officially resigned as the Congress President.
- The Indian National Congress is a political party in India with widespread roots. Founded in 1885, it was the first modern nationalist movement to emerge in the British Empire in Asia and Africa.

- Book ‘Whispers of Time’ is authored by Dr. Krishna Saksena and was launched by Minister of Textiles and Minister of Women and Child Development, Smriti ZubinIrani.
- Dr. Krishna Saksena was the first woman from Uttar Pradesh to get a Ph.D. degree in English Literature in 1955.
