1. National Programme of the International Yoga Day

  • Government has shortlisted 5 cities, Delhi, Shimla, Mysore, Ahmedabad and Ranchi for National Programme of the International Yoga Day 2019.
  • International Day of Yoga, or commonly and unofficially referred to as Yoga Day, is celebrated annually on 21 June since its inception in 2015.
  • An international day for yoga was declared unanimously by the United Nations General Assembly. Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice originated in India.
  • The main event of International Yoga Day on June 21 this year will be held in Ranchi.

2. Mukhya Mantri Roshni Yojana

  • Himachal Pradesh Government has passed a resolution to implement ‘Mukhya Mantri Roshni Yojana’.
  • 17550 free electricity connections will be provided to poor families during current FY.

3. First Women to fly HAWK Jet

  • Mohana Singh has become first woman fighter pilot to fly Hawk jet.

4. Elephanta Festival of art and culture

  • Elephanta Festival of art and culture has started at ‘Gateway of India’ in Mumbai.
  • Elephanta Caves are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a collection of cave temples predominantly dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.

1. President of Central American country of El Salvador

  • Nayib Bukele has been sworn-in as the President of Central American country of El Salvador.

2. Mexico’s highest civilian award

  • Pratibha Patil was awarded ‘Orden Mexicana del Aguila Azteca’ by Ambassador of Mexico to India, Melba Pria.
  • The Order of the Aztec Eagle forms part of the Mexican Honours System and is the highest Mexican order awarded to foreigners in the country.
  • Pratibha Devisingh Patil is an Indian politician who served as the 12th President of India from 2007 to 2012.

3. World Bicycle Day

  • World Bicycle Day is observed on June 3.
  • The first World Bicycle Day was celebrated by the United Nations in 2018.

4. Board of IATA

  • Spicejet Chief Ajay Singh was elected to the board of International Air Transport Association.

  • The World Health Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations that is concerned with international public health. It was established on 7 April 1948, and is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The WHO is a member of the United Nations Development Group.

1. Asian Cup football tournament for Women

  • The next edition of AFC’s Asian Cup football tournament for Women to be held in 2022.

  • India hosted the Asian Cup football tournament for Women in the year 1980 at Kozhikode.

2. 18th FIBA Basket Ball World Cup

  • The 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup will be the 18th tournament of the FIBA Basketball World Cup for men’s national basketball teams. The tournament will be hosted in China.
  • Yan Xu’s design, a Chinese Dragon-inspired named Son of Dreams, was announced to be the winning mascot.
  • The top eight teams, including Japan as the host of the 2020 Summer Olympics (and the top two teams from each of the Americas and Europe; and the top team from each of Africa, Asia and Oceania) in this competition will qualify for the men’s basketball event in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
  • Both the Czech Republic and Montenegro will make their first appearances in the FIBA World Cup as debutants.
