1. Book:- ‘Making of New India: Transformation under Modi Government’

  • Book ‘Making of New India: Transformation under Modi Government’ is authored by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
  • President Kovind has launched the first copy of the book.

2. Mission Raksha Gyan Shakti

  • Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has launched ‘Mission Raksha Gyan Shakti’ in New Delhi.
  • This Campaign will showcase achievements by DRDO, Defence Public Sector Undertakings and Ordnance Factories which have zeroed in filing of Intellectual Property Right applications.

3. India’s first personal robot for kids

  • Robot ‘Miko 2’ is India’s first personal robot for kids, was launched by start-up Emotix.
  • Start-up Emotix is founded by IITB graduates Sneh Rajkumar Vaswani.

4. Emergency Number ‘112’

  • Himachal Pradesh has become the 1st Indian state to have a single emergency number ‘112’.
  • It will connect to Police(100), Fire(101), Health(108) and Women helplines(1090) via an Emergency Response Centre.

4. Global Nutrition Report 2018

  • Around 150.8 million children are stunted in the world.
  • India has topped the list with around one-third of the world’s stunted children live in India, 46.6 million.
  • Nigeria with 13.9 million.
  • Pakistan with 10.7 million.
  • Stunting is the impaired growth and development that children experience from poor nutrition, repeated infection, and inadequate psychosocial stimulation. Children are defined as stunted if their height-for-age is more than two standard deviations below the WHO Child Growth Standards median.

1. Ukraine has declared Martial Law

  • Ukraine’s parliament has declared Martial Law after Russian naval confrontation off the disputed Crimean Peninsula.

2. Sustainable Blue Economy Conference

  • The first Sustainable Blue Economy Conference was held in Nairobi, Kenya.
  • Theme :- ‘The Blue Economy and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’.

3. Harry Leslie Smith passes away

  • British World War II veteran Harry Leslie Smith passes away at 95.
  • Harry Leslie Smith was a British writer and political commentator. He grew up in poverty in Yorkshire, before serving in the Royal Air Force in the Second World War. He immigrated to Canada in 1953. After retiring, Smith began writing his memoirs, and about the social history of Great Britain in the 20th century.

1. Air India Air Transport Services Limited

  • Govt. has approved 100% stake sale in Air India Air Transport Services Limited which is a subsidiary under Air India (Ground-Handling Company)
  • AIATSL is Air India’s only profitable subsidiary with Rs 334 million in FY 2016/17

2. Merger of Rural Electrification Corporation and Power Finance Corporation

  • The Govt. is planning to merge two PSU of power sector Rural Electrification Corporation and Power Finance Corporation.
  • REC will acquire a majority stake in Power Finance Corp.
  • Rural Electrification Corporation Limited (HQ :- New Delhi) is a public Infrastructure Finance Company in India’s power sector. The company is a Public Sector Undertaking and finances and promotes rural electrification projects across India.
  • Power Finance Corporation Ltd. (HQ :- New Delhi) is an Indian financial institution. Established in 1986, it is the financial back bone of Indian Power Sector.

3. First GST Calculator

  • Casio India has launched world’s first GST calculator ‘MJ-120 GST’ and ‘MJ-12 GST’ that are dedicated to the Indian market.
  • Casio Computer Co., Ltd. is a Japanese multinational consumer electronics and commercial electronics manufacturing company headquartered in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. Its products include calculators, mobile phones, digital cameras, electronic musical instruments, and digital watches.

4. OYO’s New CEO of its real estate business

  • OYO has appointed Rohit Kapoor(Max Healthcare ED) as the CEO of its new real estate business venture.
  • OYO Rooms, commonly known as OYO, is India’s largest hospitality company, consisting mainly of budget hotels. It was founded in 2013 by Ritesh Agarwal and has since grown to over 8,500 hotels in 230 cities in India, Malaysia, UAE, Nepal, China and Indonesia.

1. World Chess Champion

  • Magnus Carlsen(Norway) retained his title as World Chess Champion
  • Magnus Carlsen is a Norwegian chess grandmaster and the current World Chess Champion. His peak rating of 2882, achieved in 2014, is the highest in history. A chess prodigy, Carlsen tied for first place in the World U12 Chess Championship in 2002.

2. ICC Women’s World Twenty20 XI

  • Harmanpreet Kaur has been named captain of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 XI.
  • It also features Smriti Mandhana and spinner Poonam Yadav.
  • The next ICC World T20 will take place in Australia in 2020.

3. Copa Libertadores final

  • The Copa Libertadores final return leg between Boca Juniors and River Plate will be played at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
  • Copa Libertadores de América, is an annual international club football competition organized by CONMEBOL since 1960. It is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world and the most prestigious club competition in South American football.
