- Novak Djokovic (Serbian) emerged victorious in the 2023 Men’s Australian Open, beating Stefanos Tsitsipas (Greek).
- While Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus clinched the Women’s Singles title, Novak Djokovic secured the Men’s Singles for the tenth time and his 22nd Grand Slam Title in total.
- Australia’s Rinky Hijikata and Jason Kubler were the winners of the men’s doubles championship.
- Barbora Krejkova and Kateina Siniakova (Czech Republic) captured the women’s doubles title.
2. Germany Triumphs in the 2023 Hockey World Cup by Defeating Belgium
- Germany clinched the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 title, held at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, India.
- With their 5-4 victory over Belgium in the penalty shootout, Germany joins Pakistan, Holland, and Australia as the only teams to have secured three or more Hockey World Cup titles.

3. South Africa Set to Host the Fifteenth BRICS Summit in January 2023
- Durban, South Africa is poised to host the fifteenth BRICS summit in 2023.
- Sergei Lavrov, the Russian foreign minister, announced this during a press conference in Massawa, Eritrea, alongside Osman Saleh, Eritrea’s foreign minister.
- The foreign ministers of Brazil, Russia, India, and China first convened in 2006 during the UN General Assembly, marking the initiation of BRIC cooperation. South Africa joined the BRICS Summit in Sanya, China, in the latter part of 2011.
- The 2013 BRICS summit, held in Durban, South Africa, witnessed the presence of leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
- June 2009 saw the BRIC countries’ presidents congregate in Russia, establishing the summit status of BRIC cooperation.
- The acronym “BRICS” represents the five emerging nations: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

4. EPFO Launches “Nidhi Aapke Nikat 2.0”
- The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has unveiled “Nidhi Aapke Nikat 2.0″—a District Outreach Programme. Arti Ahuja, Secretary (Ministry of Labour & Employment), inaugurated it online in the presence of the Central Provident Fund Commissioner (CPFC) and other EPFO officials.
- Beyond serving as a platform for workers and employers to voice concerns and disseminate information, “Nidhi Aapke Nikat 2.0” will also foster interaction between state and central agencies at the district level, extending its reach to over 685 districts.
- Online amenities, including claim filing, will be provided to members via a special support desk incorporated in this initiative. The intent is to address members’ grievances promptly and to visit every district in the nation on the same day of each month, specifically on the 27th, under the banner of “Nidhi Aapke Nikat 2.0”.
- EPFO, overseen by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, was established in 1952 with its headquarters situated in New Delhi.
