1. UIDAI extends deadline for VID implementation
- The VID gives an option for the users not to share their Aadhaar numbers and give the service providers a 16-digit temporarily generated VID.
- The deadline has been extended to July 1.
2. Facebook to train Indian women on internet use
- The NCW has partnered with FB to launch the digital initiative for 60,000 women on safe use of internet.
- The training will be conducted in local languages.
3. CM Kumaraswamy assures farm loan waiver
- K’taka CM promised farmers of loan waiver in 15 days.
- Meanwhile, Home Ministry is taken by Congress and Finance Ministry by JD(S) after five rounds of talks in the alliance.

1. AI to predict violence
- The algorithm analyses Twitter posts to predict when will protests turn violent.
- The researchers at University of Southern California found that the volume of tweets increased on days with violent protests.
2. US imposes tariffs on EU, Canada and Mexico
- Initially, the EU, Canada and Mexico were exempted from import tariffs.
- They are now subject to 25% and 10% tariffs on steel and aluminium imports respectively.
3. Denmark imposes ban on burqa
- The Parliament voted in favour of a ban on full-face veils in public.
- Violation will invite a fine of Rs.10,500.

1. India’s GDP growth up at 7.7%
- The GDP grew by 7.7% in March quarter, highest since demonetisation.
- India remained as the fastest growing major economy in Q4 by surpassing China’s 6.8% growth.
2. Kimbho disappears from Play Store
- Patanjali’s messaging app Kimbho disappeared a day after it was launched.
- Guru Ramdev said that it was launched on a trial basis for one day.
3. Indian Oil emerges as most profitable PSU
- IOC maintained the record for the 2nd consecutive year with a record profit of Rs.21,346 cr in 2017-18.
- Reliance Industries is the most profitable company for the 3rd straight year with Rs.36,075 cr as profit.

- CWG 2018 gold medalist has been banned for testing positive a banned anabolic steroid.
- She won gold after lifting 192 kg in the women’s 53 kg category.
2. Mallya quits as Force India director
- Vijay Mallya will be replaced by his son Siddharth.
- He was a part of the consortium that bought the Spyker team in 2007 and renamed it Force India.
