1. Ron Malka’s New Role with the Haifa Port Company
- Having previously held the position of Israel’s ambassador to India from 2018 to 2021, Ron Malka has now been entrusted with the role of Executive Chairman for the Haifa Port Company by the Adani Group.
- Haifa Port, renowned as Israel’s second-largest in terms of shipping container capacity, witnessed its official acquisition by the Adani Group in January 2023.
- Notably, the Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone, collaborating with Israel’s Gadot Group, emerged victorious in the privatization bid for the Port of Haifa, with an impressive offer of USD 1.18 billion.
2. Neeraj Nigam’s Ascension to Executive Director at RBI
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appointed Neeraj Nigam as its Executive Director, charging him with the responsibility of helming four departments, one of which includes consumer education and protection.
- Before this elevation, Nigam efficiently served as the director of RBI’s regional office located in Bhopal.
- During his vast professional journey within the RBI, he has assumed diverse roles spanning Regulation and Supervision, HR management, premises management, currency management, bank account operations, and various other domains.

3. Demise of Salim Durani, Renowned Indian Cricketer
- Salim Durani, who carved a niche for himself as a distinguished all-rounder in the Indian cricket echelons, bid adieu to the world at the age of 88 in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
- Between 1960 to 1973, Durani graced the cricketing pitch in 29 Test matches for India, accumulating a total of 1,202 runs with an average score of 25.04. His cricketing prowess was further validated with one century against West Indies in 1962 and seven commendable half-centuries during his Test career.
- Supplementing his batting achievements, he was a skilled left-arm spinner, capturing 75 wickets at an average of 35.42. In the realm of first-class cricket, he played for teams like Saurashtra, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. Interestingly, he was born in Kabul, Afghanistan, in 1934 but grew up in Jamnagar.

4. Upward Trend in India’s Foreign Exchange Reserves
- As per the latest data extracted from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), there has been a substantial surge in India’s foreign exchange reserves by $5.98 billion, setting the total at a commendable $578.78 billion as of March 24, 2023.
- Preceding this rise, the country’s foreign exchange reserves had touched $572.8 billion, which was the peak level recorded since the early days of February 2023.
- Simultaneously, India’s foreign currency assets (FCA) experienced an upward shift, with an increase from $4.38 billion to a new total of $509.72 billion. In tandem, the gold reserves of India also observed a growth, escalating by $1.37 billion to culminate at a sum of $45.48 billion.
