1. Indian National Commission for Cooperation

  • HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has chaired the meeting of the Indian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO in New Delhi.
  • Indian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO is a governmental body formed by the Government of India which functions under the Department of Secondary and Higher Education in the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

2. G-20 Presidency in 2022

  • India will host the G-20 Presidency in 2022.
  • Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated Rs 100 crore has been allocated for this purpose.
  • G20 is an international forum for the Governments and Central Bank Governors from 19 countries and the European Union.

3. PEN Gauri Lankesh Award for 2019-20

  • Kashmiri reporter Yusuf Jameel has received the second edition PEN Gauri Lankesh Award.
  • Gauri Lankesh was an Indian journalist-turned-activist from Bangalore, Karnataka. She worked as an editor in Lankesh Patrike, a Kannada weekly started by her father P. Lankesh, and ran her own weekly called Gauri Lankesh Patrike.

4. National Kishore Kumar Samman

  • Veteran actress Waheeda Rehman has been presented with Kishore Kumar Samman for 2018 by Madhya Pradesh Government.
  • The award carries a cash prize of ₹2 lakh and a citation.

1. World Cancer Day

  • World Cancer Day is an international day marked on February 4 to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment.

  • Mohammed Tawfik Allawi has been named as the new prime minister of Iraq.

4. World Wetlands Day

  • World Wetlands Day occurs annually on February 2, marking the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on February 2, 1971 when a small group of environmentalists signed an international agreement at the Ramsar Convention in Iran.
