- NTPC is set to organize a G20 global seminar centered on Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS) in Bengaluru on February 5, 2023.

- The central theme is to drive the shift to clean energy and aim for a net-zero future.
- CCUS technology is recognized for its capability to capture and utilize the substantial carbon dioxide emissions resulting from industrial operations.

2. Introduction of Mascot for 3rd Khelo India Winter Game
- Anurag Singh Thakur, the Sports Minister, in collaboration with J&K’s LG, Manoj Sinha, unveiled the Mascot, Theme Tune, and Uniform for the third installment of the Khelo India Winter Games happening in Jammu & Kashmir.
- The Winter Games have been slotted from February 10 to 14, 2023, at Gulmarg in J&K.
- The Ministry of Sports backs the event, and the J&K Sports Council along with the Winter Games Association of J&K handles the organization.

3. Observation of World Cancer Day 2023
- The global community marks World Cancer Day on the 4th of February annually to elevate awareness about cancer and promote its early detection, prevention, and cure.
- This year, the emphasis is on “close the care gap,” advocating for equal access to cancer treatments.
- The designated colors for the 2023 World Cancer Day are blue and orange.
- The inception of this observance was on February 4, 2000, during the inaugural World Summit Against Cancer held in Paris.

4. Kerala’s Endeavor into Green Hydrogen
- The Kerala administration has publicized its strategy to establish green hydrogen centers in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram within the next biennium.
- The proposed budget for this initiative stands at Rs 200 crore.
- The objective is to construct facilities capable of yielding 60 tonnes of hydrogen daily, driven by a 150 MW Electrolyser along with storage facilities.
- Hydrogen generated by splitting water using electricity is termed green hydrogen.

5. Incorporation of Drone Tech by Coal India’s MCL
- MCL, a subsidiary of Coal India, has ushered in drone tech, integrating it with a web platform named ‘VIHANGAM’, a drone, and a ground control system for coal mining operations.
- The goal is to leverage drones for environmental surveillance, quantifying volumes, and digitizing the mine via photogrammetric mapping.
- Authorized individuals can view live drone footage from mining sites.
- Currently, this pilot initiative is functional at Bhubaneswari and Lingraj surface mines located in the Talcher Coalfields.

6. Jupiter Surpasses Saturn in Moon Count
- Astronomer Scott Sheppard from the Carnegie Institution for Science in Washington has identified 12 previously undiscovered moons orbiting Jupiter.
- With this addition, Jupiter’s moon tally is 92, exceeding Saturn, which boasts 83 moons.
- The orbital patterns of these newfound 12 moons have been cataloged by the Minor Planet Center (MPC).
- Among these 12, nine are notably far from the planet.
- As per MPC’s evaluation, these nine moons have an orbital duration exceeding 550 days.
