1. Aditi Ashok Clinches the Kenya Ladies Open Golf Title 2023

  • Indian golfer Aditi Ashok secured her fourth win in the Ladies European Tour by triumphing in the 2023 Kenya Ladies Open at Vipingo Ridge, Kenya.
  • This marks her first victory in this tour since 2017.
  • She secured the title with a score of 12-under, ahead of competitors Alice Hewson from England and April Angurasaranee from Thailand, both of whom scored 3-under.
  • Other Indian participants, Avani Prashanth and Amandeep Drall, positioned at tied-ninth and tied-52nd respectively.

2. Raul Rebello Takes Helm at Mahindra Finance as New MD and CEO

  • Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Ltd announced the appointment of Raul Rebello as their next managing director and CEO.
  • He will take over from Ramesh Iyer, who is set to retire on April 29, 2023.
  • Raul Rebello currently holds the position of COO in the firm.
  • Before his tenure at Mahindra, he was associated with Axis Bank Ltd, where he served as the executive vice president, focusing on rural lending and financial inclusion.

3. Indian President Confirms the Induction of Five New Supreme Court Justices

  • Droupadi Murmu, the President of India, has confirmed the selection of five justices for the Supreme Court.
  • This addition takes the total number of judges to 32, out of a possible 34.
  • The official swearing-in ceremony is slated for February 6, overseen by CJI DY Chandrachud.
  • The incoming judges include Pankaj Mithal, Sanjay Karol, PV Sanjay Kumar, Ahsanuddin Amanullah, and Manoj Misra.

4. PM Modi Set to Inaugurate HAL’s New Helicopter Production Facility

  • A state-of-the-art helicopter production unit by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) located in Tumakuru, Karnataka, is poised to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
  • Known as the ‘Greenfield Helicopter factory’, it will produce Light Utility Helicopters and boasts facilities such as a heli-runway, air traffic control, and various hangars.
  • Spanning 615 acres, the plant utilizes the latest Industry 4.0 tools for its operations.

5. 2024 Slated for the Launch of NASA-ISRO Collaborative Satellite, NISAR

  • The joint venture between NASA and ISRO, named NISAR (NASA-ISRO SAR), is scheduled for launch in 2024.
  • This Low Earth Orbit (LEO) observatory aims to provide consistent data for tracking changes on Earth including vegetation, ice mass, and sea levels.
  • NISAR will feature two radar systems: the L-Band SAR by NASA’s JPL and the S-Band SAR crafted by ISRO.

6. Punjab Rolls Out Fresh Industrial and Electric Vehicle Initiatives

  • Led by CM Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Cabinet has greenlit novel policies focused on industries and electric vehicles.
  • As a part of the vehicle scrapping policy, incentives will be given to individuals adopting electric vehicles, and plans to set up charging stations are also underway.
  • The updated industrial policy aims to position Punjab as an attractive spot for investments. Furthermore, public mining sites will be introduced to make sand and gravel accessible and affordable for the public.
