1. INS Vishal

  • INS Vishal known as Indigenous Aircraft Carrier 2 (IAC-2) is a planned aircraft carrier to be built by Cochin Shipyard Limited for the Indian Navy.
  • It will be a new state-of-the-art aircraft carrier along the lines of Britain’s HMS Queen Elizabeth.
  • Indian Government is in talks with United Kingdom for the same.

2. PC Chandra Purashkaar 2019

  • Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty was awarded 27th P.C. Chandra Puraskaar.
  • Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty is India’s most reputed cardiac surgeon and humanitarian.
  • P.C. Chandra Puraskaar is an annual national award from the P.C. Chandra Group at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre. General Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math

3. Submarine ‘Vela’

  • Indian Navy has launched fourth Scorpion class submarine named ‘Vela’.
  • It was launched at the Kanhoji Angre Wet Basin of Mazagon Dock Limited at Mumbai in Maharashtra.
  • The Indian Navy is the naval branch of the Indian Armed Forces. The President of India is the Supreme Commander of the Indian Navy. The Chief of Naval Staff, a four-star admiral, commands the navy.
  • Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS): Admiral Sunil Lanba
  • Vela-class submarines of the Indian Navy were variants of the later Soviet Foxtrot-class submarines. The last of the class was decommissioned from the Indian Navy in December 2010. INS Vagli is planned to be preserved as a museum in Tamil Nadu, though the process has been plagued with issues and is currently on hold.

4. ‘Unnat Bharat Abhiyan’ scheme

  • IIT Kanpur has collaborated with CSC e-Governance Services India to scale-up ‘Unnat Bharat Abhiyan’ scheme.
  • ‘Unnat Bharat Abhiyan’ is a programme of the HRD Ministry towards achieving solutions for increasing sustainable growth in rural India.

International News

1. International Religious Freedom 2019 Report

  • United States Commission has released its International Religious Freedom 2019 report.
  • It describes threats to religious freedom around the world.
  • It categorises counties as “countries of particular concern” (CPCs) for engaging in or tolerating “systematic, ongoing, egregious violations.”

2. ‘Rodeo Road’ as ‘President Barack Obama Boulevard’

  • Los Angeles has renamed a 4-mile stretch of road from ‘Rodeo Road’ to ‘President Barack Obama Boulevard’.
  • It is in honour of the country’s first African-American President.
  • Los Angeles is a sprawling Southern California city and the center of the nation’s film and television industry. Near its iconic Hollywood sign, studios such as Paramount Pictures, Universal and Warner Brothers offer behind-the-scenes tours.
  • Barack Obama II is an American attorney and politician who served as the 44th president of the United States from 2009 to 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, he was the first African American to be elected to the presidency. He previously served as a U.S. senator from Illinois from 2005 to 2008.

3. Japan’s first privately developed rocket

  • First Japanese privately developed rocket ‘Momo-3’ has reached outer space.
  • It is developed by Interstellar Technology Inc

1. New investment in Ola Electric

  • Ratan Tata has invested an undisclosed amount in Ola Electric Mobility.
  • Ola launched India’s first multimodal electric vehicle project in Nagpur.
  • Ratan Naval Tata is an Indian industrialist, businessman, investor, philanthropist, and a former chairman of Tata Sons who serves as its chairman emeritus.

2. Most Valuable Lenders in India

  • HDFC Bank is the most valued Indian bank with a market cap of ₹6.45 trillion.
  • It is followed by State Bank of India and Kotak Mahindra Bank with market cap of ₹2.76 trillion and 2.71 trillion respectively.

3. Governor of State Bank of Pakistan

1. Asian Youth Women Handball Championship

  • Jaipur will host the 8th Asian Youth Women Handball Championship.
  • The 2017 was held at Jakarta in Indonesia where South Korea was the champion.
  • Japan and China were placed second and third respectively in 2017 Edition
  • The Asian Women’s Youth Handball Championship is the official competition for youth women’s national handball teams of Asia, organised under the aegis of Asian Handball Federation. It takes place every two years.

2. World Team Championships 2024

  • Table Tennis Federation of India will bid for 2024 edition of the biennial World Team Championships.
  • The Table Tennis Federation of India is the governing body for table tennis in India. The TTFI was established in 1926, and was a founding member of the International Table Tennis Federation. TTFI’s membership includes 32 state units and 37 institutions.
