1. ‘Sukanya’ Project

  • Kolkata Police has started the 3rd edition of ‘Sukanya’ project to provide self-defence training to girls studying in schools and colleges in the city.
  • The initiative is funded by Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Department of the West Bengal Government.

2. Krishnapatnam Port

  • Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) has agreed to buy a 75% stake in Krishnapatnam Port of Andhra Pradesh.

1. Global Child Prodigy Award 2020

  • Dubai-based Indian girl Sucheta Satish has won the 100 Global Child Prodigy Award in Delhi.
  • She was awarded for singing in most languages during one concert and the longest live singing concert by a child.

2. Galaxy Group EGS77

  • An international team of astronomers of NASA has found the farthest galaxy group identified as ‘EGS77’.
  • The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is an independent agency of the United States Federal Government responsible for the civilian space program, as well as aeronautics and aerospace research. NASA was established in 1958, succeeding the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics.

3. Word of the Decade

  • Neutral pronoun ‘they’ has been voted word of the decade by US language experts.
  • US dictionary Merriam-Webster in December named “they” as word of 2019.

1. Women Science Congress

  • The Women Science Congress was inaugurated at the ongoing Indian Science Congress in Bengaluru.
  • DRDO Aeronautical Systems Director-General Dr Tessy Thomas who is known as Missile Woman of India was the Chief Guest at the occasion.

2. NSE Knowledge Hub

  • Minister of Commerce and Industries Piyush Goyal has inaugurated National Stock Exchange (NSE) Knowledge Hub in New Delhi.
  • NSE Knowledge Hub is AI powered learning ecosystem that will assist the banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) sector.
  • The National Stock Exchange of India Limited is the leading stock exchange of India, located in Mumbai. The NSE was established in 1992 as the first dematerialized electronic exchange in the country.

3. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited with Wipro

  • Hindustan Aeronautics Limited with Wipro has inked a pact for 3D printing in aerospace.
  • Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is an Indian state-owned aerospace and defence company headquartered in Bangalore, India. It is governed under the management of the Indian Ministry of Defence.

4. Women Entrepreneurs Welfare Association with Indian Bank

  • WEWA – Tamil Nadu is a non-profit association working for welfare of women entrepreneurs. The association is recognized by the state government of TN.
  • Indian Bank is an Indian state-owned financial services company established in 1907 and headquartered in Chennai, India.

  • Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.

2. The 63rd National Shooting Championship

  • Indian shooter Saurabh Chaudhary has won the men’s 10 metres air pistol gold medal at the 63rd National Shooting Championship in Bhopal
