  • Charles III was officially anointed King of the United Kingdom in a grand ceremony held at Westminster Abbey, attended by more than two thousand attendees and prominent figures.
  • The solemn ritual saw the Archbishop of Canterbury positioning the St Edward’s Crown upon Charles III. Following this, his spouse, Camilla, received her coronation as Queen.

2. Introduction of the LEI System by SEBI

  • The Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) system has been rolled out by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). This is intended for entities listing, or considering listing, non-convertible securities, securitized debt instruments, and security receipts.
  • The LEI acts as a distinct global code for identifying legal entities involved in monetary transactions. This system aims to establish a global directory that accurately identifies all legal parties in financial dealings.
  • The specific 20-character LEI code helps pinpoint unique legal entities in the financial sphere. This system not only promotes increased transparency but also bolsters risk management in financial sectors. Furthermore, it plays a pivotal role in deterring fraud and ensuring thorough verification of all entities involved in financial transactions.
  • Additionally, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) requires non-individual loan takers with a combined exposure exceeding Rs 25 crore to secure the LEI code.

6. INSV Tarini’s Voyage Back to India

  • The Indian naval sailing vessel, Tarini, is set to return to Indian shores after a six-month-long transcontinental voyage.
  • The expedition started in Goa on November 17, 2022, and is slated to conclude there on May 24, 2023.
  • Tarini’s journey included stops in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, following a route via Cape Town, South Africa. Moreover, the vessel participated in the Cape to Rio Race 2023.
  • Upon its return, Tarini will have completed a demanding journey of 17,000 nautical miles.

7. Border Roads Organisation’s Project Dantak 64th Anniversary

  • The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) observed its 64th anniversary on May 07, 2023, with celebrations held at its various units nationwide.
  • To mark the occasion, a BRO-centric software was launched, aligning with the ‘Digital India’ initiative.
