3. 65th Grammy Awards Ceremony

4. International Cricket Bid Farewell to Aaron Finch

  • Aaron Finch, Australia’s T20 captain, announced his retirement from international cricket.
  • Previously, in September 2022, he had retired from one-day internationals.
  • Finch’s international journey began with a T20I match against England in 2011, an ODI debut in 2013 against Sri Lanka, and his first Test in 2018 against Pakistan.
  • At his retirement, he stands as Australia’s leading run-scorer in T20s, accumulating 3120 runs with an average of 34.28.

  • The International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is observed annually on February 6.
  • It seeks to amplify awareness and shed light on the grave consequences women face due to FGM.
  • The theme for 2023 emphasizes “Engaging Men and Boys in Changing Social and Gender Norms to Eradicate FGM”.
  • This day gained acknowledgment from the UN General Assembly in 2012.

6. B.K.S. Varma’s Legacy Lives On

  • Renowned Indian artist BKS Varma passed away in Bangalore, Karnataka, aged 74.
  • His artwork majorly focused on societal and environmental themes, portrayed in a surrealistic style.
  • He underwent artistic training under the guidance of A.N. Subbarao at a cultural arts institute.
  • Throughout his career, he was honored with the Karnataka Rajya Puruskar (2001), Rajyothsava award (2001), and an Honorary Doctorate by Bangalore University in 2011.
