1. Government Approves 10% Quota for Medical Students from Public Schools
- The Central Government has approved a 10% quota for students from state-run higher secondary institutions pursuing undergraduate medical studies following Puducherry’s request.
- The immediate reservation is for students who cleared the NEET exam and were educated in public schools since the first grade.
- This collaboration is expected to boost research in areas like genomics, which is essential for understanding diseases like aggressive cancer types. The announcement was made at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) ceremony attended by Minister Jitendra Singh.

2. Japan’s New Lunar Mission: ‘Moon Sniper’ SLIM Takes Off
- Japan has launched its lunar probe “moon sniper” using the H-IIA rocket. JAXA confirmed the successful launch from the Tanegashima Space Center.

5. India’s Debut UPI ATM: A Leap from Cardless Cash Withdrawals
- India introduces its first UPI-ATM through a collaboration between Hitachi Payment Services and NPCI.
- This allows certain bank users to make QR-enabled cardless withdrawals from compatible ATMs, eliminating the need for physical cards.
- The UPI-ATM, also known as the Interoperable Cardless Cash Withdrawal (ICCW), has a transaction limit of ₹10,000, adhering to UPI’s daily limits and the ATM-operating bank’s rules.
