1. Arun Subramanian’s Historic Appointment to NY District Court

  • Arun Subramaniam, an Indian-American, has been historically appointed as the inaugural South Asian District Judge for the Southern District of New York.
  • His appointment was endorsed by Senate Majority Leader, Senator Chuck Schumer, with a majority vote of 58-37.
  • Arun earned his Juris Doctor (J.D) degree from Columbia Law School in 2004 and completed his BA at Case Western Reserve University in 2001.
  • It’s notable that the Southern District of New York has one of the most significant populations of South Asian-Americans in the nation.

2. Successful MRSAM Test by Indian Navy on INS Visakhapatnam

  • The medium-range surface-to-surface missile (MRSAM) was effectively launched by the Indian Navy from INS Visakhapatnam.
  • The purpose: To evaluate the efficiency of these anti-tank missiles.
  • The MRSAM missile is a joint product of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and is manufactured by Bharat Dynamics Ltd.
  • In boosting India’s aerial defense capabilities, the DRDO has also provided two distinct versions of this missile system to the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force.
