1. India’s First Hybrid Annuity PPP (HAM) model in ‘Sewerage Sector’

MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) is India’s First Hybrid Annuity PPP (HAM) model in ‘Sewerage Sector’.
It was inaugurated by Union Minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat in Haridwar.

2. National Award for Excellence for rehabilitation of persons with disabilities

Uttar Pradesh Government conferred with the National Award of Excellence by the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
It is awarded for doing a commendable job in the field of rehabilitation of persons with disabilities (Divyangjan).

3. National Florence Nightingale awards 2019

President Kovind conferred 36 awardees with the National Florence Nightingale Awards 2019 at an event in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the year 2020 as the Year of Nurse and Midwife.
The year 2020 also marks the 200th birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale
May 12 is observed as the International Day of Nurses.
Florence Nightingale was an English social reformer and statistician, and the founder of modern nursing. Nightingale came to prominence while serving as a manager and trainer of nurses during the Crimean War, in which she organised care for wounded soldiers.

Mastercard CEO Ajay Banga named ‘Global Indian of the Year’ at The Economic Times Awards for Corporate Excellence in Mumbai.

2. SAARC Charter Day

SAARC Charter Day was observed on 8th December.
The South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC) was established on 8 December 1985.
The last SAARC Summit in 2014 was held in Kathmandu, which was attended by Modi.
The 2016 SAARC Summit was to be held in Islamabad. But after the terrorist attack on an Indian Army camp in Uri in Jammu and Kashmir on September 18 that year, India expressed its inability to participate.
The Summit was called off after Bangladesh, Bhutan and Afghanistan also declined to participate in the Islamabad meet.
The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation is the regional intergovernmental organization and geopolitical union of states in South Asia. Its member states are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

1. Guidelines for ‘On Tap’ Licensing of SFB in the Private Sector

RBI released guidelines for ‘On Tap’ Licensing of Small Finance Banks in the Private Sector.
Payments Banks willing to convert themselves into small finance banks (SFBs) can apply for such a licence only after 5 years of operations.
The licensing window will be open on-tap.
The minimum capital for setting up an SFB has been mandated at ₹200 crores, adding for primary (urban) co-operative banks (UCBs), which wish to become SFBs, the initial requirement of net worth will be ₹100 crores, which will have to be increased to ₹200 crores within five years from the date of commencement of business.
SFBs will be given scheduled bank status immediately upon commencement of operations.

Business-to-Consumer E-commerce Index 2019 is released by United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.

3. EPFO monthly contribution to be cut

The employee share of EPFO contribution may vary between 9-12% depending on sectors.
In contrast the employer contribution will remain at 12%.
Currently, both employees and employers of a formal sector establishment contribute 12% each of the basic salary every month.
The flexibility will help workers to take home a better salary
the side effect of this move will lower the retirement saving corpus of workers in the long run.

4. NEFT transactions to be made 24×7

NEFT transactions will be made 24×7 from December 16 by RBI.
National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT) is an Indian system of electronic transfer of money from one bank or bank branch to another. The banks or their branches that support such transactions have to participate in the NEFT network.

Batsman Wasim Jaffer has become the first-ever cricketer to play 150 Ranji Trophy matches.
He is followed by Devendra Bundela with 145 appearances between 1995 and 2017 and Amol Muzumdar with 136 appearances between 1993 and 2013.
Wasim Jaffer is also the highest run-scorer in Ranji Trophy.
