  • Government has gave its approval to confer the status of Institution of National Importance to five Indian Institutes of Information Technology.
  • These Five IIITs are Surat, Bhopal, Bhagalpur, Agartala and Raichur.

2. India-Sri Lanka Alliance Air flights

  • Alliance Air, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Air India, will fly on international sectors between India and Sri Lanka.
  • Alliance Air is an Indian regional airline and a wholly owned subsidiary of Air India. It was founded in 1996 and mainly operates domestic routes as part of the government’s Regional Connectivity Scheme.

  • Pinelopi Koujianou has resigned from the chief economist post of the World Bank.

  • Instamojo has acquired digital commerce platform ‘GetMeAShop’ for $5 million.

2. Pension Fund Manager

  • The Minimum net worth for Pension Fund Manager has been raised to Rs 50 crore from 25 crore by PFRDA.
  • The National Pension Scheme (NPS) is one of the most accepted pension-oriented products in the country. The programme was introduced by the Central Government as part of a social security initiative for all Indian citizens. The NPS scheme allows individuals employed in the public and private sectors to invest in low-risk equity funds, security funds, or alternative investments with good returns.

4. External Benchmarking of loans for MSMEs

  • RBI has announced External Benchmarking of loans for MSMEs from April 1.
