1. India-ADB Loan for Madhya Pradesh Roads

  • India and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have secured a $175 million loan to enhance Madhya Pradesh’s road network.
  • The project entails upgrading around 500 km of roads to two-lane standards, with a focus on climate resilience and disaster readiness.
  • ADB will also bolster the capabilities of the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation Limited in areas like climate response and road safety.
  • The initiative includes adopting eco-friendly road building methods, establishing electric vehicle charging facilities, and emphasizing gender equality and social inclusion.

2. ADB’s $98 Million Loan for Horticulture in India

  • The Asian Development Bank approved a $98 million loan to enhance access to certified disease-free planting materials for horticulture farmers in India.
  • This loan supports the Atmanirbhar Clean Plant Program, aiming to establish centers for disease-free planting materials and a related certification scheme.
  • At least six centers equipped with modern diagnostic tools and expert staff will be set up.
  • The project also focuses on developing regulatory frameworks, accrediting private nurseries, and implementing a certification scheme for clean plants.

3. Amrit Bharat Station Scheme by Indian Railways

  • The Ministry of Railways introduced the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme for the development of stations across Indian Railways.
