1. ISRO Launches Online Training for PG and Last-year UG Students
- The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) unveiled a new online educational initiative named Space Science and Technology Awareness Training (START).
- START targets postgraduates and undergraduates in their final year from the fields of Physical Sciences and Technology.
- The curriculum encompasses diverse areas of Space Science, such as Astronomy and Astrophysics, Heliophysics, the relationship between the Sun and Earth, Instrumentation, and Aeronomy.
- Subject experts from both Indian educational institutions and ISRO facilities will deliver the lectures.
- Educational establishments can register for the course via the Jigyasa portal by May 20.

2. New India-Bangladesh Border Market Opened at Bholaganj, Sylhet
- Bholaganj in the Companiganj upazila of Sylhet witnessed the opening of a new market along the India-Bangladesh frontier.
- Bangladesh’s Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, Imran Ahmed, along with the Assistant High Commissioner of India, Niraj Kumar Jaiswal, jointly launched the market.
- In the Sylhet region, this is the fourth of its kind, with two others currently in operation. Three additional such markets are in the pipeline for the same division.
- The market operates from 10 AM to 4 PM on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
- The Bholaganj market houses 26 booths from India and 24 from Bangladesh, offering duty-free traditional products from both nations.

3. RBI Slaps ₹1.73 Crore Penalty on HSBC over Erroneous Credit Card Information
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has penalized the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Ltd (HSBC) with a fine of ₹1.73 crore due to violations of the Credit Information Companies Rules of 2006.
- HSBC provided inaccurate data about numerous lapsed credit cards with zero outstanding balances to all major credit reporting agencies.
- The penalty was levied under the CIC (Regulation) Act, 2005, invoking sections 25(1) and 23(4).

4. Recommendation to Prohibit Diesel Four-Wheelers in Major Cities
- A study, sanctioned by the oil ministry, recommends that by 2027, cities with a population exceeding 10 lakh should prohibit diesel-run four-wheelers and shift to electric or gas-driven alternatives.
- The study, chaired by ex-Oil Secretary Tarun Kapoor, also advocates for the gradual removal of motorcycles, scooters, and auto-rickshaws with traditional engines by 2035.
- The proposals align with India’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.
