Word-1: Deranged
Meaning: Someone who is deranged behaves in a wild and uncontrolled way, often due to mental illness.
Synonyms: Crazed, demented, distracted, irrational, maniacal, unbalanced, unhinged, ape, baked, cracked, disarranged, disconcerted, disordered, displaced, flipped, fried, maddened, etc.
Usage Examples:
1. In general, desperation guided the treatment of the deranged.
2. My plans were completely deranged by his sudden arrival.
3. Mark’s inconsistent argument deranged us all.
Word-2: Implode
Meaning: If something implodes, it collapses into itself suddenly and violently.
Synonyms: Cave in, fall down, fold, fall in, fold up, etc.
Usage Examples:
1. In effect, this will generate antigravity to combat the natural tendency of a massive system to implode into a black hole under its intense weight.
2. In contrast, a recent flurry of bearish reports warns that China’s economy could soon implode.

Word-3: Writ
Meaning: A legal document from a law court that tells you you will be involved in a legal process.
Synonyms: Summons, command, decree, document, mandate, paper, prescript, process, subpoena, warrant, habeas corpus, replevin.
Usage Examples:
1. The people in business have issued a writ against the authority for damages.
2. He left the company and promptly issued a writ claiming $45 million in damages.
3. The company has been served with a writ for damages.
Word-4: Condemnation
Meaning: To criticize something or someone strongly, usually for moral reasons.
Synonyms: Accusation, censure, denunciation, disapproval, judgment, blame, damnation, denouncement, doom, prescription, etc.
Usage Examples:
1. There was widespread condemnation of the invasion.
2. The United Nations issued a condemnation of the regime.
3. The most telling condemnation of the system was that it failed to fulfil its function.
Word-5: Hegemony
Meaning: The country’s continuing desire for political and military hegemony.
Synonyms: Authority, command, leadership, power, predominance, etc.
Usage Examples:
1. It fights for its hegemony in literature; the older genres decline wherever it triumphs.
2. Hegemony evolves in an extensive but temporary form; equilibrium is only relative.
3. China opposes hegemonism, and China will never seek hegemony.
Word-6: Perverse
Meaning: Perverse deliberately does unreasonable things that result in harm to themselves.
Synonyms: Contradictory, wicked, abnormal, bad-tempered, cantankerous, capricious, contrary, contumacious, corrupt, crabby, cross, degenerate, delinquent, depraved, deviant, disobedient, dogged, erring, fractious, hard-nosed, headstrong, intractable, etc.
Usage Examples:
1. She was deriving a perverse pleasure from his discomfort.
2. She took perverse pleasure in hearing that her sister was getting divorced.
3. That perverse guy has been nagging at me all day.
Word-7: Vortex
Meaning: A mass of wind or water that spins round so fast that it pulls objects into its empty.
Synonyms: Whirlpool, eddy, waterspout, gyre, whirlwind.
Usage Examples:
1. The sudden, unexpected, acute, scalding pain thrust him into uncontrollable rage.
2. They were going to undo the spells that held together the vortex and bring back Chaos to the world.
3. Tossed and buffeted for six hours and caught in an eddy in the vortex, she died of suffocation.
Word-8: Muzzled
Meaning: To stop a person or organization from expressing independent opinions.
Synonyms: Gagged, quieted.
Usage Examples:
1. The normally muzzled Chinese press has saturated the airwaves with quake coverage.
2. Other horses wandered loose among the gum trees while others were muzzled and tied up.
3. The males are usually used as line ferrets; the females are worked loose, muzzled or otherwise.
Word-9: Erstwhile
Meaning: Describe someone who used to be the type indicated but no longer is.
Synonyms: Once, bygone, ex, late, old, one-time, past, preceding, previous, quondam, sometime, etc.
Usage Examples:
1. They grabbed rifles and fired a volley into the air to show their erstwhile companions it could be done.
2. To be candid, Hal is a sop to their erstwhile allies and a mask to their true intentions.
