Reserve Bank of India has notified for the recruitment of Assistant s. The selection process will start in a week or two. The candidates can easily crack this exam with a proper strategy. Through this article, we are providing you with a stepwise strategy to crack this exam.
Step 1:- The first and basic step is to know the exam pattern. The exam will be conducted in three stages. The preliminary and main exam followed by interview. The preliminary exam pattern is:-

Step 2:- The next main task is to know the syllabus of exam.
Step 3:- The next main task is to categorize syllabus into three categories, Easy to cover and scoring, Moderate to cover and scoring and Difficult to cover but scoring. Now in further steps cover these categories one by one.
Step 4:- Cover topics which are easy to cover and scoring. The list of topics is given below:-

English Language and Comprehension | Cloze test – Grammar and vocabulary – Practice all topics of grammar from quizzes, Read articles based on current topics from a good source, List down all important vocabulary. |
Spotting errors – Grammar – Practice questions from recently conducted banking and insurance exams. | |
Quantitative Aptitude | Simplification and approximation – Practice questions using digit sum method and unit digit methods. Try to remember squares up to 50, cubes up to 20, conversion of fraction to percentage and vice versa. |
Quadratic equations and series – Practice questions using sign method, for series practice questions based on patterns asked in recently conducted exams. | |
Reasoning Ability | Inequality – practice both direct and coded forms. |
Number /alphabet series – Practice variety of questions to make yourself comfortable in solving complex statements in less time. | |
Direction sense based questions – Questions may be asked from easy to complex structure. Try to remember pythagoran triplets for easy and quick calculations. | |
Blood Relations based questions – Practice both coded and direct forms. Solve questions using family chart and take care of sign conventions used to denote various relations. You can use generation’s gap concept for quick solutions using options. | |
General Awareness | History of Banking – Indian context, first banks list, bank foundation years, merger and nationalization of banks. |
Banking Terms – Abbreviations related to banking concepts. | |
RBI, SEBI, IRDAI and other Regulatory bodies – The structure of bodies, terms of regulatory, recent directions issued by various regulatory bodies, important provisions of acts related to these regulatory, important positions held by. | |
Capital markets – Instruments and their properties, tenure of instruments, similarities and differences, recent changes in Indian markets (introduction of new instruments) | |

Step 5:- Cover topics which are moderate or difficult in difficulty level but scoring. The list of topics is given below:-

English Language and Comprehension | Para jumbled sentences – Try to practice Para jumble exercises of various levels. |
Passage – Read news articles from good sources on regular basis and prepare your own list of difficult words and learn them by heart as these words will be asked in exams, also complete passages asked in recently conducted exams. | |
Finding Odd sentence out – This is a new pattern asked in exams, this type of questions is scoring if you are good in comprehension which comes from reading habit therefore reading good newspaper and articles make your habit. | |
Merging two paragraphs – The proper knowledge of sentence connectors and other important grammar concepts can help a lot in this topic. | |
Quantitative Aptitude | Data Interpretation – This topic can be scoring with practice. If the question is direct and involves less calculations you should attempt it else leave the question in exam but practice at home. Try to solve questions using ratio analysis and percentage methods for quick calculations. |
Miscellaneous – This topic is a collection of various arithmetic topics, in recent exams questions are asked on new concepts leaving behind the traditional concepts therefore you must practice questions of exams conducted in last two years. | |
Reasoning Ability | Puzzles – This topic is very scoring if you have done ample practice of various levels of puzzles. In this topic you can receive surprise elements. Step 6:- Next step is to attempt mock tests. The mock tests should be of the same level as of the exam neither too easy nor too tough. Take mock tests regularly.
Step 7:- Analyze the mocks to know your weak topics. Once you are able to find your weak areas start practicing questions till you feel comfortable.
Step 8:- Revision before exam. Make short notes of important concepts and formulas for quick revisions before the exam.
