National Political News:

2. 100 years ago in 1915 a different ‘Ghar Vapsi’ of Mahatma Gandhi known as MK Gandhi then was from S. Africa to India.

International Political News:

1. Charlie Hedbo new paper Editorial office in Paris attacked by suspected Islamic fundamentalist Syed Kouachi and CherifKouachi killing 10 journalists including veteran cartoonists. 2 policeman also short by then. These attackers have a previous track record of terrorism in the name of ‘Jihad’.

2. Sri Lanka elects a new president in Maithripala Sirisena who has been sworn in. Former president and Sri Lanka strong man Rajapaksa defeated at the hustings in Sri Lanka. Rajapaksa was consistently showing a pro-China stance against Indian and Japanese interests. His effectiveness had been dented by allegations of nepotism, corruption and curbing freedom of press.

Business News:

1. Oil prices fall below $50 to a barrel, and sends world stock markets into a tizzy. It is feared that low oil prices because of shale oil discovery in America and ultimately across the vast cost lines of countries next to sea. Low oil prices has had impact on prices of metals and other Petro commodities and can cause serious deflation in various countries.

Science and Technology:

1. A new Antibiotic named as ‘Teixobactin’ has been created by scientist in nearly 30 years of R&D. It is widely believed that it can treat drug resistant stream of TB, septicemia, colitis and other pathogens.

1. The cricket Icon Imran khan has married for the third time in Peshawar. This time it is a BBC broadcaster/anchor Ms. Reham Khan
2. In Sydney, fourth test played between India and Australia for the Border Gavaskar Trophy has ended in a draw. A century each had been scored by Skipper Virat Kohli and Test debutant K.L. Rahul a protégé of Rahul Dravid.
3. Ace Swiss tennis player Roger Federer registers his 1000th ATP career win in Brisbane, Australia. Federer is the third player after Jimmy Connor and Ivan Lendl to reach this milestone.
