Article Title: Whose money are you spending?

Article Summary

In this piece, the author shares an intriguing incident that he experienced recently. While driving he comes across a bus stop decked with a large masthead and an inscription in the beautiful black glazed granite mentioning details about its patron MP and other local worthies who graced its inauguration. This provoked the author to reflect upon the irony of politicians using our money to advertise their “generosity” in a grandiose manner which he perceives to be duplicitous. While he understands the importance of beating one’s own drum, using public funds to promote oneself is inappropriate as this will further intensify the race among political parties to take credit amidst stiff political competition. He yields to this fact after realising that in today’s milieu, everything has to be supersized, in your face, and screaming for attention.
