Article Title: On “Darwinism”

Article Summary

This article speaks about the great, Darwin and how the term “Darwinism” came to be used as a slander. When the teachers at Dover High School selected a biology textbook, William Buckingham criticised the move by saying that the textbook was full of “Darwinism”. He encouraged one to learn more about creationism instead. Back in 1998, America’s greatest living writer, Marilynne Robinson was one of the first ones to use the term in a derogatory tone. This shows that evolution has now become an ideology and not a field of science.

In evolutionary psychology, Darwin’s theory had been used to explain every other behaviour of male and female. The theory is being integrated into humanism and social science. Animal kingdom theorists consider human as being nothing more than an animal. But the writer agrees with Jacob Bronowski when he states that “there must be something unique about a man”. And this thinking can surely overcome the mindless use of “Darwinism” as a slur. Evolution means that we are a carrier of something truly precious—the genetic, biological, and cultural heritage of life itself.
