Article Title: i Spondylosis
Article Summary
This is a humorous and sarcastic article about the increasing neck aches because of bad postures due to excessive use of smartphones .
The author starts with how,the incidence of neck-aches has doubled, while the incidence of migraine or periodic headaches remains the same. He further continues by making up an imaginary story about three women and their mother.
The author jokes about them and further talks about how these neck aches as reported by the women at such young age, are rarely cervical spondylosis which is a mal-alignment of the neck (cervical) bones, that may pinch a particular nerve. What he was confronting, was actually muscle spasms due to stress, and a wrong posture for prolonged durations. The excess use of the term “spondylosis” is more because patients like to have a technical word for what they pay for.
The author further talks about the wrong postures today people have and this is all because of mobiles . The postural adjustment one makes to hold is the reason for these aches . The author concludes that users that run the smart phone industry, and with their readiness to get MRIs are in a way, uncomplaining contributors to the medical fraternity as well.
