Recommendation 1 from ‘The Times of India’
Article Name:‘Medieval India’
By: ‘Jug Suraiya’
The article states that when on one hand Obama openly supported same sex marriages, on the other hand a senior police officer in India validated the honour killing. No mater, even if we have sent satellites in space and have achieved lot in other fields as well, the fact remains that our mindset is still attached to the medieval beliefs. And when it comes to same sex marriages in India, it doesn’t even matter that the SC has decriminalised homosexuality. And the same goes for honour killings and female foeticide, as in these cases also it doesn’t mater that the government has made all this illegal, people still continue doing such acts.
Summary:
On one hand we all go ga-ga about new things in society, but when it comes to having a girl child or a girl marrying outside the caste, it comes down to the family honour. It is a matter of shame that we can even think like that. Having degrees is useless, when we cannot be educated in the real sense and be open to all these things.
