Recommendation 1 from ‘The New York Times’
Article Name:‘You can go home again’
By: ‘Karen L. Fingerman and Frank F. Furstenberg’
Article states that due to such financial conditions that prevail in the country, despite the fact that many people will be earning college degrees, they will still be going back home to their parents. This on one hand could mean the end of freedom for both the people .i.e. children and the parent. However, the article states that this bond could be celebrated instead of being labelled as the freedom finisher, as it is a known fact that children who receive parental support do much better in life with clearer goals and contentment than children who do not.
Summary:
It sounds weird in India that children are not living with parents; it is a norm here in India. Perhaps, this is the reason Indian children are happier than their counterparts elsewhere. However, there is also a downside, by the time children in other countries are 25, they have an apartment of their own, but here it is not so.

Article Name:‘The closing of the Indian mind’
By: ‘K. Shankar Bajpai’
Closing of the Indian mind in the article means that closed mind leads all of us to conform to the circumstances and sometimes even debase us from the reality and hinders self-correction. Article also states that this closed Indian mind also forces us to believe time and again that some unseen power will steer us through everything and even rocky economic growth of the country. What article really wants to say is that the situation, in every aspect, is too big to be left in the hands of politicians, it is all of ours responsibility even in causing the crisis and also curing the crisis.
Summary:
Well, yes, very well said! We are the hands that have caused the crisis and we are the hands that should be the ones to cure it. When the article states that factional rights consume more political energy than any public interest work, then it is our duty not to participate in it. And the same stands true for other crisis also.

Article Name:‘I Don’t!’
By: ‘Lili Boisvert’
Article is talking about a law called de facto spouse law in Quebec, according to which couples who stay together without marriage do not have to provide for another in the event of separation. However, due to a case with the help of which this clause of de facto was invalidated could restrict the freedom of all the individuals in Canada. Freedom in terms of choosing the state they want to be in while they stay with someone. In a way, if the case works out in the favour of the women, as she was the one to challenge it in the first place, approximately 1.2 million Canadians could be forced to be married.
Summary:
Ah! The age old debate, atleast it is so in India. There had been no law saying anything in this case so far, until one day live in relationships were made legal. Of course, it invited criticism from far and white, but assuming this stage of legalizing is much better than de facto spouse, at least it gives some sense of security to women.
