Article Name:‘A memorial day thought: May be Pittard really does speak for us on suicides’
By: ‘Jim Gourley’
Article is talking about a comment made on the subject of soldier suicide by Major General Dana Pittard. He had said that suicide is a selfish act and soldiers should deal with real life problems like the rest of us. Though he did retrace his statement, there was no comment made by the army leadership higher than Pittard. The article states that this indicates that this could be the view in general about the soldiers committing suicide. Article states that the loudest statement in the case has been the mute response of the army leadership.
Summary:
Well, yes, mute response has been the loudest statement in this case. Before making such statements the officials have to realise that if a single soldier is committing suicide, it is not their fault, it is the administration’s fault, as they have failed to give them a support, which in a way could have lead to the suicide.

By: ‘Preeti Kulkarni & Vidyalaxmi’

However, the article states that there is a way to save oneself from this. The article states that bringing the insurance policy under the purview of Married Women’s Property Act ensures that on the death of the life insured all the benefits go to the family member only.

It is evident that many people do not know this, as this is one thins that is not mentioned openly in the commercials. May, be one of the hidden facts. That is the reason it becomes important that one reads and researches everything about the policy that he/she is buying.

Article Name:‘The bursting of the EVOO bubble’
By: ‘Matthew Yglesias’
The article states that price of olive oil is crashing, worse than ever before, as this month itself, price in the wholesale market fell to $2,900 a tonne, which is said to e the lowest since 2002. Article states that this is not a good sign, especially taking into consideration that Spain has had a bumper olive crop. Article states that this crash in prices is due to decline in domestic demand of the oil due to unemployment etc. Further, it is pointed out that taking into consideration that Mediterranean countries are also oil producing countries, it is leading to a crash.
Summary:
Olive oil prices crashing is part of the bigger picture of the economy of the entire world crashing. In this case, bumper crop of olive will go to complete waste as there is less demand of the oil in households. Further, what this price crash really indicates is that austerity .i.e. cut in befits really doesn’t help the situation at all.
