Recommendation 1 from ‘The Times of India’

Article Name:‘Shining India, swaggering India’

By: ‘Sidharth Bhatia’

The article is talking about rising rage in the country and cites many examples to justify his claims. The article also states that there was a time when politicians were humble, at least pretending to be humble and now they even walk out when they are asked some uncomfortable questions. Article states that rising rage in our country is directly related to lack of civility. Further, the article states that instead of shining, India has taken the option of swaggering, as India has not handled the success well at all. Sorry doesn’t figure in our vocabulary, we take offense at slightest of things and we cannot stand anyone making fun of us in any way. And the saddest part of that we do not even feel ashamed if we direct this rage towards who cannot defend themselves.

Summary:

And that is exactly what happens. We not only direct rage at people, but also animals, as if this earth has been created just for us. Not that we all should love animals, but it just goes to show our values when we treat such creatures in this way and it figures that today hardly anyone has that civility and respect for life. Further, yes, India and Indians have not handled the success well, its all about convenience and whereas it should be about responsibility.

Recommendation 2 from ‘The Guardian’

Article Name:‘How America’s death penalty murders innocents’

By: ‘David A love’

The article states that people who have unequivocal faith in the U.S. judicial system are wrong, as there have been huge number of people who have been wrongfully convicted. These wrong convictions happen due to flawed eyewitness identification and may be even prosecutorial misconduct. All the data that has been listed in the article has surfaced after Michigan law school and Northwestern University compiled a National Registry of Exonerations.

Summary:

What really happens when there is a wrongful conviction is that it not only highlights that the system is incompetent, but also makes it easier for people to not to trust it. And looking at the statistics, this is a serious problem that needs to be corrected.

Recommendation 3 from ‘The Guardian’

Article Name:‘Benefit changes: David Cameron is no longer on the side of single parents’

By: ‘Tanya Gold’

The article is stating that David Cameron 124,000 single parents were told eight weeks ago that they will be moved from income support to job seekers allowance. This is happening despite the fact that Britain’s 1.9 million single parents and their three million children are poorest in the society.

Summary:

Austerity what else can it be. But, how is it really helping people? Instead of taking the country on the path of the growth, isn’t it taking the country in the depths of despair?
