Recommendation 1 from ‘The Guardian’

Article Name:‘We must take back control of our food, before it’s too late’

By: ‘Matthew Herbert’

The article states that people i.e. consumers of  food should be given control over food. Writer states it in a way food that is placed on every supermarket shelf should have on its packet the way it was killed, reared and prepared, so that we as consumers know, what we are taking in. Furthermore, the article also states that such information will also help us make decisions as to what we buy.

Summary:

Such decisions are important especially in the scenario when WWF states that 90% big fish have been fished out, but this will not be mentioned on the packed fish and we will eat one more fish out of the ocean, contributing in the decline. Control indeed should be given in the hands of the consumer.

By: ‘Shobha John’

The article is an interview about a 26 year old girl, Annies Kanmani Joy, who has passed IAS exam with 65th rank while she stood at 580th last year. She comes from a small family with a father who is a farmer. She did various degrees and then finally moved on to appear for IAS. And she advises everyone to read newspapers, to analyze things and encourages people with even language barriers to appear for it.

Summary:

Such humble beginnings in life can be so inspiring. Appears, as if taking overpriced coaching for such exams is just overrated. Hard work, regular reading, habit of analyzing things can perhaps be the key to cracking IAS exam and we can also play the part in changing the country.
