Recommendation 1 from ‘Foreign policy’

Article Name:‘The global failure to shut up’

By: ‘Steve LeVine’

The article states that the next biggest threat to the world is noise pollution. Article has cited the writing of Richard Parisio, which states that there is so much noise around that it may even force the birds to leave their breeding grounds. And their songs, which are very important for the breeding and establishing territory, they themselves will not be able to hear each other. And bats they might also not be able to find food which they do with echolocation.

Summary:

The summary just gives you the outline of the theme, but as you read the article you will know that if we all do not give up things that make noise, one day many things/birds/species will be extinct. Further, so much noise pollution is also not good for our ears.

Recommendation 2 from ‘The Times of India’

Article Name:‘Don’t needle us’

By: ‘Jug Suraiya’

The article is a hilarious account of the phobia that the writer has of needles. He is so scared of the needles that he refers to needles (of the injection) as hypodermic jabs. Then spontaneously he comes to his own rescue by saying that he is not the only one who is scared of the needles. There are other men too, perhaps more macho than him, who look for the nearest exit at the very sight of it. He complains that science has done such wonderful inventions, but why has it not developed a jabless jab.

Summary:

Writer has elaborated on his fear of needles so well that the reader will explode into spontaneous laughter. What’s really surprising is that a man can be so scared of a needle. Not that men are not allowed to be scared, but fear and men have been designated as oxymoron in Indian society.

Recommendation 3 from ‘The Times of India’

Article Name:‘Shady deal’

By: ‘Jug Suraiya’

Article has been written as a satire on two of the most important situations in our country today. First is crime against women in cars with tainted windows and another is female foeticide. Writer begins by informing the reader that due to so much rise in crime against women government has banned dark tinted windows in cars. Further, the article has been written as a dialogue between to police walas (cops) who are looking for ways to stop crime against women. They come up with various illogical ways until in the end when they realise that the initiative has already been taken to stop crime with the help of female foeticide, as there will be no women and no crime against women.

Summary:

So very well said. May be one day a time will come when in reality there will be no women and men will have to go to another planet to look for their partners or may be even marry the same sex. This will also solve the debate on same-sex marriage. So, in a way they will not see even a single women whom they can carry along in the cars.
