Recommendation 1 from ‘The Guardian’

Article Name:‘Dalai Lama: National service’

By: ‘Editorial’

Article states that with the passage of time, Chinese occupation of Tibet has become stronger so much that Tibetans in exile are demanding autonomy and there is no guarantee that they will be given that. In the bid to attain independence several Tibetans have set fire to themselves. Dalai Lama has attained such recognition in the world that his legacy has left no need for the 15th. It has happened because he is a religious leader with no army and no country and he preaches a religion, which is absurd to the modern ear, but people follow it because it is devoid of the baggage of other religions. Further, he has been cunning and peaceful too and has kept alive the hopes of an exiled nation.

Summary:

When we talk about Tibet, there is more to this issue than just Dalai Lama. Of course, it is due to his work and presence that the issue has gained international importance. What comes before him are the people that follow him. No one can say that he has failed as a leader when it comes to independence. It is of great surprise when we see Tibetans living with so much dignity in another country under his leadership.

Recommendation 2 from ‘Foreign Policy’

Article Name:‘Meat: the slavery of our time’

By: ‘Jim Motavalli’

The article is predicting that sooner than later this world is going to turn vegetarian because the coming generations will find the idea of eating morally and logically screwed. Further, the article also points out that people are beginning to know that eating red meat is bad for health and as well as environment and this is also forcing them to change their habits. However, there is still a margin of people who do not give up meat and this margin is still quite big. The experts say that pressing it on to people is like losing a battle. Hence, the writer has pointed out that we will not give up meat by choice, but by force, as by 2025 we will not have resources to keep eating meat.

Summary:

Eating meat is morally wrong. Don’t people remember the faces of their pets when they go out and order meat? Funny! Of course, telling people to quit meat altogether is not possible, as such decisions are very personal, but when it comes to making the right choice for health, we should stop it. The kind of practices adopted in meat farming is nothing less than a shame to humanity.

Further, the article also states that according to a number, seizures of guns for which this program has been designed has decreased sharply. Further, the data also shows discrimination, as per the data minorities like Hispanics are targeted more tan the whites.

Sometimes all the law sounds like targeted against the minorities even when these laws were not made for this purpose in the first place. The laws which let the bias of people come in are not in the interest of the society. No doubt there is a pressure on the department to reform the policy.
