Article Name:‘Strike a balance’
By: ‘TOI’
Agreed, the security is required. However, agreeing with the article there needs to be a balance. Every northeast citizen cannot be harried on the pretext of a security threat. People also need to understand their right to protest and at the same time country needs friendly administration and friendly rules so that people do not feel alienated.
Summary:
The article states that there needs to be a balance between peaceful protests and security of foreign dignitaries visiting the country. The article cites the current situation when Chinese president visited the country and Tibetan protestors wanted to storm the hotel of his stay, which is totally unacceptable. So, there needs to be a balance and in this case the relationship between the two countries in very important economically. Further, throwing a security dragnet over the capital and harassing north-east citizens with racial profiling is even worse.

By: ‘Editorial’
Any move that is made to protect the environment in the present times is very important, as environment is depleting. However, when such rulings are passed, it should take into consideration the technologies at hand. May be carbon emissions could have had an upper limit and power plants could have been given some time to fix it.
Summary:
The article talks about the new ruling passed by Obama administration that a power plant can only emit 1,000 pounds of carbon dioxide per megawatt-hour of electricity. This kind of ruling could spell a doom for new power plants that use coal fire as that produces much more carbon emissions. However, the plants that use natural gas use the technology that is not only in infancy, but also very expensive. This move has been made to protect the environment and the health of the people.
