The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts various exams for Jobs in Central Government Departments and Ministries and SSC has recently issued a notification for SSC CGL 2017 Notification (CGL stands for Combined Graduate Level Examination). Tier I of the exam will be conducted online from 1st August 2017 to 20th August 2017 in different slots. Read on to get all relevant details related to SSC CGL 2017 Recruitment Notification.
Eligibility for SSC CGL 2017
As per the official SSC CGL 2017 Notification, the candidate should fulfil the eligibility criterion related to citizenship, age as well as educational qualification.
Citizenship Criteria for SSC CGL 2017
Under the SSC CGL 2017 Notification for recruitment, a candidate applying must be either –
(a) a citizen of India
(b) a subject of Nepal
(c) a subject of Bhutan
(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the Ist January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India
(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Educational Qualification for SSC CGL 2017
Essential Qualifications as on 1st August, 2017:
i) Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer:
a) Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised University or Institute
b) Desirable Qualifications: Chartered Accountant or cost & Management Accountant or Company Secretary or Masters I Commerce or Masters in Business Studies or Masters in Business Administration (Finance) or Masters in Business Economics.
ii) Junior Statistical Officer: Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognised University or Institute with at least 60% Marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level:
OR
Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
iii) All other Posts: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised University or equivalent.
iii) The candidates appearing in the final year of their graduation can also apply, however they must possess Essential qualification on or before 1st August 2017.

Registration Procedure for SSC CGL 2017
Follow these steps to successfully register for SSC CGL 2017.
Step 1: Submit your application online at the official website: www.ssc.nic.in. In this step, you will have to submit all the relevant information about your candidature. Make sure you check all the information and instructions carefully. You must provide information in fields marked with * (asterisk) sign.
Step 2: Pay fees: On submission of the form a registration number and password will be provided to you. Keep that safe for all future communication. The next step would be to pay the fees of Rs 100 (One Hundred Rupees). All Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Physically Handicapped, and Ex-Servicemen eligible for reservation are exempted from paying the application fee, as per extant government orders.
The candidates who are not exempted from paying examination fee may submit the requisite fee through State Bank of India only either in the form of challan, generated online, or through SBI Net Banking. Payment can also be made through any Credit or Debit Card.
Step 3: Upload picture and Signature: The final step to finish your application is to upload a recently taken scanned photograph in JPG format. The digital size of the file must be less than 12 kb and greater than 1 kb. You also need to upload your scanned signature in JPG format. The digital size of the file of the photographs must be more than 30 kb and less than 50 kb.
Once you complete all of these steps, your registration will be complete.
SSC CGL 2017 Exam Pattern
Following is the exam pattern as mentioned in the official notification:
The Examination will be conducted in four tiers as indicated below:
Tier -I — Computer Based Examination
Tier -II — Computer Based Examination
Tier -III — Pen and Paper Mode (Descriptive paper)
Tier-IV — Computer Proficiency Test/ Skill Test (wherever applicable)/ Document Verification
All candidates must note that Interview component has been dispensed with. There will, therefore, be no interview.
Exam Pattern: SSC CGL Tier-1
It is a computer based online test of 200 marks in 60 minutes of time duration.
There will be negative marking of 0.50 for each wrong answer in Tier-I.
Important Change in the exam: Reduction of time in the SSC Tier-I Exam
The biggest change in the exam this year is that the time limit of the Tier-1 exam has been reduced by 15 minutes. What impact does this have on your preparation? The reduced time limit makes it critical for you to practice speed tests and take a sufficient number of mock tests that enable you to understand the demands of the exam.

In respect of Tier-II, the negative marking system of 0.25 for each wrong answer in paper II (English Language & Comprehension) of Tier-II and 0.50 for each wrong answer in Paper-I, Paper III and Paper IV of Tier II.
Exam Pattern SSC CGL 2017 Tier III
Tier-IV of the SSC CGL Examination is Data Entry Skill Test (DEST)/Computer Proficiency Test (CPT). This test is of qualifying nature. The DEST test is for the Tax Assistant Post only.
