Question 1 |
In a Ice-cream store, there are vanilla and Strawberry flavor bonbons only. 10% of the bonbons are Strawberry flavored, 90% of the rest are squashed. What percentage of the bonbons is vanilla flavored that are not squashed?
9% | |
5% | |
1% | |
10% |
Question 1 Explanation:
Let there be 100 bonbons. 10 bonbons are Strawberry
flavored. 90 bonbons are vanilla flavored. 81 bonbons are
squashed. So, 9 bonbons of vanilla flavored are not
squashed.
:. Required percentage = 9%
flavored. 90 bonbons are vanilla flavored. 81 bonbons are
squashed. So, 9 bonbons of vanilla flavored are not
squashed.
:. Required percentage = 9%
Question 2 |
Twice a two-digit number is 9 times the number obtained by reversing its digits and the sum of its digits is 9. Find the number
72 | |
54 | |
63 | |
81 |
Question 2 Explanation:
Let the two-digit number = xy
= 2(10x+y) =9(10y+x)
=> 88y -11x = 0…………………1
Also, x + y = 9 ………………… 2
Solving Eqs. (i) and (ii), we get x = 8 and y =1
So, the number is 81.
= 2(10x+y) =9(10y+x)
=> 88y -11x = 0…………………1
Also, x + y = 9 ………………… 2
Solving Eqs. (i) and (ii), we get x = 8 and y =1
So, the number is 81.
Question 3 |
The students present in an auditorium arranged in the row. If there were 4 students extra in each row there would be 4 less rows. However, if there are 2 students less in each row, then there would be 4 more rows. Find the number of student present in the auditorium
80 | |
96 | |
100 | |
128 |
Question 3 Explanation:
Let there are r rows and x students in each row. .. (x + 4) x (r – 4) = x * r
=>x * r – 4x + 4r -16 = x * r
=>- 4x + 4r = 16 … (i)
And(x – 2) * (r + 4) = x * r
=> x*r+4x-2r-8=x*r
=> 4x-2r=8 … (ii
Adding Eqs. (i) and (ii),
2r=24
=> r = 12
:. From Eq. (ii), 4x – 24 = 8
=> 4x = 32
=> x=8
Now we have the value of r is 12 and the value of x is 8
so the number of students in the auditorium are 96
=>x * r – 4x + 4r -16 = x * r
=>- 4x + 4r = 16 … (i)
And(x – 2) * (r + 4) = x * r
=> x*r+4x-2r-8=x*r
=> 4x-2r=8 … (ii
Adding Eqs. (i) and (ii),
2r=24
=> r = 12
:. From Eq. (ii), 4x – 24 = 8
=> 4x = 32
=> x=8
Now we have the value of r is 12 and the value of x is 8
so the number of students in the auditorium are 96
Question 4 |
Out of a group of swans, 7/2 times the square root of total number of swans are playing on the shore of the pond. The remaining two are inside the pond. Find the total number of swans?
10 | |
14 | |
12 | |
16 |
Question 4 Explanation:
Let the total number of swans be x.
The number of swans playing on shore =7/2@x @ means square root)
Number of remaining swans = 2
Now .. x=7/2@x+2, (x - 2)=7/2@x
Now, among the options only x = 16 satisfies.

30 L | |
35 L | |
40 L |
Question 5 Explanation:
Let the capacity of the fuel tank be x L.
Given x/5+22 = 3/4 x
(3/4 – 1/5 )x=22
11/20x=22
X= 40L
