Eave or eaves means the lower edge of a roof that overhangs the wall: “Hotels generally have eaves to protect the windows from the snowfall.”
Eve is typically used to refer to the night before a special day: “New year’s eve is a special night to celebrate.”
Eve can also refer to the period of time just before an important event: “The students were nervous on the eve of their results.”
