1. New Director General of Fire Services, Civil Defense and Home Guard

  • Government has appointed M Nageswar Rao as the Director General of Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guard.
  • He will replace former CBI Chief Alok Verma.
  • M. Nageshwar Rao is an Indian Police Service officer. Rao took over as the interim director of the Central Bureau of Investigation. Laterrao removed from the position of additional director of CBI and posted to the post of Director General of fire services, civil defence and home guard

2. ‘Janata Clinics’ and ‘Ease of Doing Farming’

  • Rajasthan Government has announced ‘Janata Clinics’ and ‘Ease of Doing Farming’ in the state.
  • ‘Ease of Doing Farming’ is a farmers welfare fund of Rs 1000 crore.
  • ‘Janata Clinics’ provides health services and medicines free of cost.

3. Rajghat thermal power plant

  • Delhi Government. has announced that Rajghat thermal power plant will be shut and turned into a solar park.

1. Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit

  • The 2nd edition of Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS) is being held in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg.
  • Two Indian start-ups have won the Mohammed Bin Rashid Initiative for Global Prosperity award at the summit.
  • 1. Start-up ‘GARV Toilets’ which provides smart sanitation services using IoT.
  • 2. Start-up ‘A2P Energy Solutions’ which prevents stubble burning by converting agricultural waste into energy.

2. 7% country-cap on issuing Green Cards

  • USA lawmakers have passed a bill aimed at lifting the present 7.0% country-cap on issuing Green Cards.
  • Green Card is the unofficial nickname for the permit allowing immigrants to permanently live and work in the United States of America. The official name of the US Green Card is “Lawful Permanent Resident Card”.
  • It even has a more bureaucratic name: Form I-551. Green Card holders are known as “Permanent Residents”.

3. Joao Gilberto passes away

  • João Gilberto, was a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and guitarist, who was a pioneer of the musical genre of bossa nova in the late 1950s.
  • Around the world he was often called “father of bossa nova”; in his native Brazil, he was referred to as “O Mito”.

4. ICJ internship programme

  • Isha Kanth of India is one of the two persons in the world to have bagged an internship programme at International Court of Justice.
  • The International Court of Justice sometimes called the World Court, is the principal judicial organ of the United Nations.
  • ICG: Headquarters: The Hague (Netherlands) || Established: June 1945 || President: Judge Abdulqawi Ahmed Yusuf (Somalia).
  • The ICJ’s primary functions are to settle international legal disputes submitted by states and give advisory opinions on legal issues referred to it by the UN. Through its opinions and rulings, it serves as a source of international law.

  • France has become 1st major economy to impose a tax named GAFA tax (an acronym for Google, Apple, Facebook and Amazon) on Digital Giants.

2. 2019 Global Multidimensional Poverty Index

  • UN Development Programme released the 2019 global Multidimensional Poverty Index.
  • India lifted 271 million people out of poverty between 2006 and 2016

3. ICSI launches UDIN

  • The Institute of Company Secretaries of India has rolled out an initiative a Unique Document Identification Number to improve corporate governance.
  • The Institute of Company Secretaries of India is a statutory professional body in India with the objective of promoting, regulating and developing the profession of company secretaries in India. It is headquartered in New Delhi, has four regional offices at New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai, and has 69 chapters around the country.
